By the time you read this, a few of our line officers and brethren will have returned from the Reid J. Simmons Academy of Masonic Excellence. Each has a goal of becoming proficient in ritual, earning a Wardens Certificate, and gaining valuable leadership skills, so they will be better enabled to better serve you and your Lodge. Congratulate them on their achievements when you see them.
Congratulations to Bro. Edgar Louis Heishman, Jr. who received his 25 year Veterans Pin for distinguished Masonic Service and to Brother James Kales who returned his Master Mason Catechism and will be receiving his certificate of proficiency in catechism from Grand Lodge. RW Lokie Voight gave an excellent program titled “Six Boys and Thirteen hands” at our June stated communication.
We will be serving and participating as the Host Lodge for the Blue Lodge Visitation Program on Saturday August 14 at the Alexandria Scottish Rite Temple, Alexandria, VA. Lodge opens at 5:00 PM, call off and have dinner at 6:00 PM, then call on and close. Contact RW Ralph Simmons for reservations.
The Grand Masters Official Visit to District 3 will be held on Tuesday evening August 31 at Winchester Travel Lodge, ladies welcomed, dinner at 6:00 PM. There is limited seating available. Tickets are $26 each. Contact RW Jim Golladay.
Your Lodge continues to be busy with new candidates and degree work.
We congratulate Bro. Rob Hustick, on being Raised a Master Mason on July 20th.
So far, we have raised 8 new Master Masons this year. With new petitions coming in monthly, we are on track to have a great year, but we need your help … Please come out to participate in degree work, or fill the sidelines and welcome our new members. If you would like to serve as a mentor or coach, please contact me. It is one of the most enjoyable experiences Freemasonry has to offer. Those who serve our new brethren build a bond of lasting friendship and brotherly love.
I hope this finds everyone well, and I look forward to seeing each of you next month. Good refreshments & fellowship will follow, mark your calendars & plan to be with us.
Finally Brethren, May the God of Peace and Love delight to dwell with and bless you; both now, and forever more.

August 4…Mark Master Degree Practice 7:00 p.m.
August 12…………….. Stated Convocation
Many thanks for the calls and emails that I received during my illness. I appreciate your concern, and regret that I had to move our July Stated, but circumstances were such that I just could not be there. As for the July Stated, it was a success. We met jointly with Hiram No. 45, presented Past High Priest certificates to those in attendance, and enjoyed much quality fellowship with our Front Royal Companions!
As you will note, we will practice for the conferral of the Mark Master Degree on Wednesday, August 4, commencing at 7:00 p.m., and if our candidate is available, will proceed to confer the work on him at our August 12 Stated Convocation! Companions, this will be the first time in my memory that John Dove will confer any Chapter degree using only our own personnel, and it is an accomplishment of which we can all be proud! It is my most ardent hope and desire that we can learn the remaining degrees during the coming months and years, and I would call upon all interested Companions to make a point to attend the practice and Stated, and commit to taking a part in one or all the degrees.
Thank you for your continued support. I hope this finds everyone well, and I look forward to seeing you at our August functions!
Sincerely and fraternally,
Jeffrey G. Burcham, PGHP

Dinner Meeting @ Perkins Restaurant Aug. 19 th.
The meetings of the Winchester Shrine Club at Perkins Restaurant in Winchester continue on the third Thursday of the months. The club is promoting three activities; a raffle of Brown’s autographed novel, the 2010 Fall Shriners Football game at Shenandoah University, and the Winchester Apple Blossom Festival and Parade.
We have been given an autographed copy of Mr. Brown’s book involving the Masonic body. We will have a drawing for the autographed copy and an accompanying plain copy (so you can read it without diminishing its collector’s value) at the Temple’s New Years Eve Party. Tickets are one dollar each or a book of six for five dollars. The tickets are available from members of the Winchester Shrine Club. Of course you can get tickets from President Cordani by email arrangements
The Club has arranged with Shenandoah University for the annual Shrine Football Game to be held on October 30th at Shenandoah University at 7 p.m. The Winchester Club will have a tail-gate party in the parking lot with food and drinks (soda ands water) from 5 p.m. until game time. Please notify the club through John Cordani or Ed Marshall if you plan to attend. This will allow us to plan food and drink to meet the needs of those attending. We hope to see many of you at the game
The Club plans to sponsor a strong participation of Shriners in the Apple Blossom Festival again this year. The parade is scheduled for Saturday April 30th, 2011. We have arranged a room for Shriners from out of town to change before and after the parade. We have also arranged to have a set of tables reserved for dinner after the parade at Perkins. Participants will again have the full menu to select from and even though we may be large in numbers we shall have individual checks. More details will be made available as they become known.
As always we invite one and all to join us at our next meeting at the Perkins Restaurant, Winchester, Virginia.
