Brethren,

I would like to thank all of you for electing me to serve as the Master of this wonderful Lodge.  Right Worshipful Walter Downs traveled all the way out here to perform the installation and he did a beautiful job. The Ladies of the Eastern Star prepared refreshments for after the installation and they were fantastic. Thank you all.

Congratulations to Brothers Ray Steele and Chip Bennett who were awarded the Ken Mead Award for Masonic Service by our immediate Past Master Terry Shafer.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday and are now refreshed and ready to resume our labors.  As you can see from the schedule above, we are hitting the ground running.  We will be making several official visits and we also have several candidates to receive the degrees in freemasonry who were voted on in prior months.  Please come out and support our new brethren as they begin their journey in freemasonry.

Mark your calendars for District School at Washington Lodge on January 27. We will be practicing receiving the DDGM, which is good timing as RW George Glavis will be making his official visit to our Lodge at February Stated.

I look forward to a great and exciting year with all of the brethren and I know that with your help and support, we can continue to experience the growth and fellowship that we have been able to experience in the preceding years.  I have chosen for my pin this year the symbol of the bee hive for the lessons we have learned. That we are to have a social and active life, supporting each other in our lives and that we are to always be industrious, never sitting down contented when others are in need.  Carry this thought with you as you go through your daily lives.

Finally Brethren, May the God of Peace and Love delight to dwell with and bless you.

Fraternally,
Harold

It was a special time.

Congratulations to Companion Les Flowers! At our recent convocation, he received his LMIP for the Chapter. Thank you for your commitment to Royal Arch Masonry!

At our January Stated Convocation, the Select, Royal and Most Excellent Master degrees will be conferred.

We will be practicing on Wednesday January 5 at 7 p.m. If you would like a part, please contact Most Excellent Jeffrey Burcham or me. Your presence would also be most welcome. Please note that the January Stated Convocation will begin at 7:00 p.m. The time is being moved up one half hour so that we can assure the completion of the degree work. We have asked for a dispensation due to the adjustment in time. We hope that everyone stays healthy this

WINCHESTER   SHRINE CLUB

Noble John R. Cordani, President
Noble: Edward J. Marshall–Secretary/Treasurer

I have yet to take a child to the Shrine hospitals and felt badly about the time, the expense, and the child’s treatment. More oft than not, I come away with several feelings of thankfulness. Thankful that I can provide some service to the children. Thankful that we have such a marvelous system, to provide care. And thankful, in our case, that our grandchildren do not need our care.

We hope you all come to socialize  with us at Perkins on the 3rc Thursday.. We  will continue planning for the Apple Blossom week, especially the events on the May 1st parade. Our main topic will be on how we might bring all Masons into presenting a solid presence at the parade. To that end we hope to be joined by, at least one brother Mason from every lodge in the valley, who will participate in the Apple Blossom parade.

Please call either myself or Ed Marshal if you will attend our January 20th meeting.

As always we invite one and all to join us at our next meeting at the Perkins Restaurant, Winchester, Virginia. God be with you all.

John R. Cordani, President

SHENANDOAH VALLEY SCOTTISH RITE CLUB

Michael A. Judson, President
ILL. Ralph Simmons  33rd., Secretary

Brethren and Ladies,

As you are reading this, we should be well into the New Year and have all the holiday’s behind us. I would like to invite you all to our January meeting at Unity Lodge in Front Royal on the 26th of January. Fellowship starts at 6:00pm with a Dutch treat meal ($10.00 per person) starting at 6:30pm with a program to follow. Speaking of program, We will have our own Charlie Seaford performing some good Ole Bluegrass music. What better way can you think of to bring in the New Year, than with some foot stomp’n, and finger pick’n music to get your bones warmed up after all this cold weather we have had. I hope to see y’all there.

As always you and your wife or lady friend are invited. You don’t even have to be a Scottish Rite Mason to attend. So if you know an EA, FC, MM or even someone thinking of joining a Lodge please bring them along.

A RESERVATION IS A MUST. Please call in your reservation to Marvin Wilkin

Thank you. On behalf of the Shenandoah Valley Scottish Rite Club

Happy New Year everyone.

McKINLEY CHAPTER #19

ORDER OF     THE EASTERN STAR

Tammy Ohlschwager, Worthy Matron
Xerxes  Herrington, Worthy Patron
Donna  J.   McIlwee, Secretary

Chapter Web site: www.oesmckinley19.com

January 10th – Robert L. Clark test 6:30pm
January 10th – Stated Meeting – initiation,
officers long white

Hope everyone had a joyous holiday and some nice time off to enjoy your families.
Time to get back to work!

Many thanks to Bro. Jim and Sister Marci Kales for allowing us to invade their house for the Chapter Christmas party.  We had LOTS of yummy food and great fellowship. It was great to see so many kids there too; that’s the Chapter’s future. We exchanged gifts by playing a game – I am sure some of us still don’t know our lefts from our rights!

The Chapter has the opportunity to earn the Robert L. Clark award that would be presented at Grand Chapter. One component of the award is a basic knowledge, open-book test covering the ritual and the “black” book. I would like us to take the test together before our stated meeting on January 10th.  The test is open to ALL members and we will have experienced members there to help us all get through it. It is a great way to learn about our Order and how to navigate books.

We should be initiating two candidates at our January meeting, so officers brush up on your parts so we can make a lasting and favorable impression.

Everyone stay warm and we’ll see you soon.

Star Love
Tammy & Xerxes
