As we have been quite busy this year, our year is almost up. Please come out and join us in the quarries one last time for the year 2012. At our December Stated Communication, the Stewards have a excellent meal planned with a Irish theme. Please email our Senior Steward Chuck Brinson with an R.S.V.P. if you plan to attend. Come from work, come from home, but come hungry. Want to bring another Mason, the wife or girlfriend, not a problem, just let the Stewards know you’re bringing a guest. All members of the Craft are welcome as always.

As my time in the East is coming to an end this will be my last Trestle board for Winchester Hiram. I look back to the time I received a phone call from (at that time) the Senior Warden Chip Bennett. He asked me if I would take the position of the Marshal in the Lodge. Having been newly raised and very immature to the workings within the Lodge I asked him “what are the duties?” Of which he replied “whatever I ask you to do?”  I pondered for a few seconds and replied that I would be honored. What seems like an eternity ago, looking back was just a blink of an eye. Never did I imagine at that time I would have progressed though the chairs and made my way to be Master of the Lodge. So for that I want to thank Chip for having the foresight in lighting that spark that has enlightened my life with one of the best experiences I have encountered.

I had many mentors that have helped me in more ways than they probably realize. As well as many who kept me grounded and focused. To those Brothers, you know who you are, I thank you and love each of you more than can ever know. I need to just mention a few, without upsetting those who are not due to limited space. Thank you Rt. Wor. Lokie Voight for keeping my ritual in line, thank you Rt. Wor. J. Ben Mathis for your guidance, thank you Rt. Wor. Charles Bennett for keeping me in check, and thank you Rt. Wor. Ray Steele for just being there whenever I needed you. And most especially thank you to my wife Kari, for allowing me to do something I love dearly and spending time away from our family.

The person I can’t thank in person is Wor. Don Anderson. My Brother, thank you for your help, the stories and just believing in me. May your good labors continue in the Celestial Lodge above that house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Lastly I would like to thank all the line officers, Elected and Appointed, thank you for your support and encouragement. I could not have done it alone. We had wonderful year and it would not have been a success had it not been for you.

I also want to wish everyone during this holiday season a Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah and may the New Year bring you many new blessings.

And finally Brethren may the GOD of peace and Love delight to dwell with and bless you.

December 6th  Stated Convocation 7:30pm

Ho Companions,

Our December Stated Convocation will be a short one. Opening earlier than usual with a Italian meal planned afterwards. Please come out and join us, bring your wife and family as entertainment will be provided after our meal. Please email me with a head count if you plan to attend

Also our own Rt. Excellent Ray Steele is now Grand Master of the 1st Veil for The Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Mason of Virginia so congratulations goes out to him.

For those not a member of the Royal Arch, just ask myself or any other Mason what you have to do to join. The atmosphere is relaxed. The fellowship is great. And you will be continuing your journey in Freemasonry. The Royal Arch compliments the Master Mason Degree. It picks up where Blue Lodge or Symbolic Lodge has left off. For those Brothers reading this that have not yet decided on continuing their journey now is a better time than any. The meetings are once a month, the dues are inexpensive and the fellowship is priceless.

I also want to wish everyone during our holiday season a Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah and may the New Year bring you and your family many new blessings.

Again thank you to all the Companions. And thank you for everything each of you has and will do for Royal Arch Masonry.

Kodesh Layehovah,
Michael Judson Sr.

Stated Conclave and Christmas Libation Mon. Dec. 17, 6:00 p.m

Orders Saturday December 1, 9:00 a.m.

Sir Knights;

This month, there are a number of things going on in Commandery. We would welcome your participation in all or part of them.

On Saturday December 1, we will confer the Orders. The day will begin with registration, coffee and doughnuts at 8:30 a.m. The Illustrious Order of the Red Cross and the Order of Malta will be conferred, short form, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Order of the Temple will be conferred immediately following those degrees. After the degrees have been conferred, there will be a lunch. The cost of the lunch is $10. At this point, we have two of our own candidates who will be receiving degrees. In addition, there will be a group traveling from West Virginia to receive degrees. If you know that you are going to be present for lunch or know of candidates who need the orders, please contact our Recorder. It should be a great morning!

If you are able to assist, in whatever manner, on the 1st, please let us know. We could use your help.

On Monday December 17th, we will have our Stated Conclave. Please be aware of the time change. We will open, short form, and hold our meeting. Following that, there will be dinner. The cost of the dinner is $10. During dinner, we will have our Christmas Libations. Following dinner, we will have a musical program presented by the James Wood H.S. Band. The band is under the direction of our very own Standard Bearer Sir Knight Jeffrey Rutherford. Please contact me if you are planning on joining us for dinner. We want to make sure that there is enough food. It will be a great evening! Invitations have been extended to the other two Commanderies in our District.

During this very busy time of the year, we hope that you can find time to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Take the time to be with your loved ones. From the poem, Desiderata, we hear, “Go placidly amidst the noise and haste. Remember what peace there may be in silence.” Amidst the noise and haste, of the holiday season, may you have the opportunity to stop and behold the “glorious works of creation”.

We hope to see you this month. But, if we don’t, have a blessed holiday season. Merry Christmas!

Pax Deo;

Another year is coming to an end and we have just 0ne meeting left. Our next meeting is December 20th at Perkins Restaurant located in Winchester, VA.  Social is at 6:00 PM and dinner is 6:30 PM. Contact Ed Marshall for reservations

At the November meeting we nominated officers for the upcoming year 2013. We need you to come and support the club at the December meeting. On December 20th we will have our Christmas Party. This is always a great time of fellowship and a chance to meet some of the children that the Shrine has helped throughout the years.

The Winchester Shrine Club provides a vital service of free transportation for the local families that need help. Through the dedication of our members we have done that. We could still use some help and invite you to come and be part of this great function.

If you haven’t visited the Winchester Shrine Club I personally invite you to come out and see what a great time we have, we meet the third Thursday of every month. We appreciate the visitors that have come by in the past months and welcome all who want to see how the Shrines have such a good time.
