Message from M.E. George Jackson, Grand High Priest

June 23, 2011

As Most Excellent Grand High Priest, I bring you an update on what is going on in your Grand Royal Arch Chapter.

First, I hope that the winter has not been too severe on each one of you and that you are enjoying the beginning of summer.

We are over half way through with this capitular year and hope that all are looking forward to an active second half of this year.

I am asking all Chapters, with the assistance of our Grand Lecturer, our Deputy Grand Lecturers, Grand Line Officers, Subordinate Chapter Officers, to schedule schools of instruction, which can be either a full school or a mini-school. As recommended at the beginning of this capitular year, it was suggested that we divide into three Chapters and schedule mini-schools to work on our ritual. The mini-schools work as follows:  The school has usually been held on Saturdays with three Chapters plus Deputy Lecturers attending. The school usually starts from 8:00 to 8:30 with doughnuts and coffee served prior to the school. At each school we begin by practicing the opening, closing, balloting, introduction of distinguished guests and dispensing of the Royal Arch Degree.

The first mini-school is sponsored by one Chapter concentrating on the Mark Master and Past Master Degrees, the second mini-school sponsored by a different Chapter will concentrate on the Council and Most Excellent Degrees, and the third mini-school sponsored by  third Chapter and will concentrate on the Royal Arch Degree. Each mini-school will close serving a lunch to the Companions before departing.

You will find that this builds friendship and encourages fellowship and will help in the growth of your Chapter.

Another thing I strongly suggest is found in the Law Book on page 39 in the XX Section and actually sub-section XX.6. and it is required that each Scribe, King and High Priest must attend a minimum of one school per year and I have requested that the Grand Lecturer, with the assistance of the Deputy Grand Lecturers, see that this is done. This needs to be completed by the middle of September, 2011.

I also want to let you know that the 2011 Grand Royal Arch Chapter will be held at the Masonic Temple in Clarksburg, West Virginia, on October 13 (for the officers) 14 and 15, 2011. Approval has been received for our ladies to tour the FBI (Finger Print division). We will need the information required for the FBI to approve all that is attending the tour. You will receive more information on this.

I am looking forward to seeing each one of you on my travels around the State and at our Grand Royal Chapter.

Very truly yours,
George D. Jackson

Marvin O. Hill, Grand Lecturer
