MASONIC HOME – Did you know that the Regulations have been changed whereby an applicant is not required to give up all his lifetime assets to be admitted to the Home? Yes, the following members of our Masonic Family may now come into the Home on a “pay as you go” basis. (1) A Master Mason and his wife. (2) The widow or child of a deceased Master Mason. (3) The daughter, sister, or mother of a Master Mason. Note: Those of sufficient financial assets may be required to pay a one time entrance fee. Interested Brethren may secure entrance forms from Box 869, Parkersburg, WV 26101. Thank you MW Paul Cottrell, PGM, for providing this update.

It is supported by your giving through the Penny A Day program and your other gifts and Bequeaths . Give by placing donations with your Lodge Secretary, dropping money in the donation jars in your lodge, sending it directly to the HOME or the Grand Secretary also by remembering the Home in your Will. follow the degree.


Charleston Lodge No. 153 will hold a Special Communication Tuesday June 10, 2014 to Initiate.  Eat at 6:00 Pm and Lodge at 7:00 PM.  We can always use your help and support.


June 19th, the 3rd Thursday this month is Jackson Lodge 35, GOOD HOPE, WV annual Chicken Dinner. This is our regular business meeting; dinner will be at 6:30pm and lodge at 7:30pm. No work planned but will be having an election of officers. All Master Masons are invited to enjoy the great meal.


I am letting you know that there is going to be a breakfast at Clarksburg Lodge hosted by Herman 6, & Clarksburg 155. Just bring a healthy appetite! All invited! The Date is: 6/28/2014 Start time is: 8 O’clock AM.



St. Bernard Commandery 120th Celebration

You are invited to a picnic!

St. Bernard Commandery, Knights Templar
is celebrating 120 years in Hagerstown!

We are inviting all Masons and their families to a celebratory picnic in the beautiful and historic Hagerstown City Park. The date is Sunday, June 22nd, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the South pavilion near the concession stand. We are having food, fellowship and fun and we are re-introducing ourselves to masons throughout Washington County. We are asking everyone who attends to bring a covered dish to share and to break bread with us. St. Bernard is supplying the meat and paper products as well as water to drink. If you have never been to the park then you and your family are in for a treat. Our beautiful park was just recently named as one of the most beautiful urban parks in the United States. There is playground near the pavilion as well as the beautiful duck pond. We are looking forward to meeting new friends and saying hello to old friends. Friendship Lodge, Hagerstown, Maryland Update


Monday, June 9 is Strawberry night. Please, bring your families so they can enjoy this evening with us.

We are planning on handing out three 50-year service awards to three brothers!

Come and help us celebrate their many years of dedication to the fraternity.

Then on June 19, 20, & 21 the premier Masonic Degree team from Oklahoma will be exemplifying the three degrees at three lodges, including our own Friendship Lodge. This is probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view this famous team. Oklahoma Country Boys Degree Team

Then all masons are invited to Hagerstown City Park, south pavilion, on Sunday, June 22 to celebrate the 120th Anniversary of St. Bernard Commandery, Knights Templar. St. Bernard is one of the three York Rite bodies that meet in, and support, our historic temple, Let us join them in this celebration.


Clinton Lodge #86 will have a third degree special on June 14, 2014 at 5:00 PM to be attended by the Grand Master and his entourage. NLT 06/07/2014, please email  WM McDougle if you plan on attending to ensure there will be enough food for dinner.

I’m sorry if I have sent this out prior but I wanted to make sure everyone knew.
Mineral Lodge No. 311 in Mineral, Va. will be holding a Hawaiian Shirt Table Lodge on Saturday June 14, 2014 beginning at 4PM. There will be a ham dinner with all the trimmings and a commemorative shot glass for you to take home with you, wine and fruit juices will be available for the toasts.The cost is $20 and all the money will be used to help replace the roof on Mineral Lodge. I have attached a flyer to this email in case you would like to post it at your lodge.

Scottish Rite Club in the Valley

We are currently planning our 2014 friends and family picnic at the Milton Pumpkin park on June 14, 2014. We are seeking donations for door prizes to be given away on the day of our picnic. Any donations will be greatly appreciated. We will post all of our donors on the day of the picnic and announce all donors at the drawing, a lot of the attendees are for the local area and appreciate all the community does to help us out. This also coincides with our fundraising for our Speech and Language clinic at Marshall University.

The Martinsburg WV Scottish Rite Childhood Language Development, Charity Golf Outing will be held at Locust Hill Golf Course, 278 St. Andrews Drive, Charles Town, West Virginia on Saturday, the 12th of July.  The format will be a four man scramble with a shotgun start at 2:00 P.M. followed by a picnic at the course pavilion at approximately 6:30 o’clock. The cost will be $80 per golfer and includes golf, cart, range balls, picnic buffet, and prizes. There will also be a hole-in-one contest. Martinsburg Scottish Rite Childhood Language Development Charity Golf Outing

This charity is formally known as the Martinsburg (WV) Scottish Rite Foundation, Inc. and provides services to the community for the diagnosis, referral, and treatment of childhood language and learning disorders; to provide facilities for such diagnosis, referral, and treatment; and to engage in research in such fields.

Saturday, the 12th of July

The format will be a four man scramble with a shotgun start at 2:00 P.M. followed by a picnic at the course pavilion at approximately 6:30 o’clock.

Locust Hill Golf Course, 278 St. Andrews Drive, Charles Town, West Virginia

$80 each per golfer and includes golf, cart, range balls, picnic buffet, and prizes.

There will also be a hole-in-one contest.Individual players will be combined to make up as many full teams as possible. You are permitted to bring your own soft drinks and water. A beverage cart will be on the course.

Visit for a virtual tour of the course. The cost for those who desire to attend the picnic only will be $12.00 per person. I will try to accommodate any last minute participants.

Companions all:

Upshur Chapter #34, will host a ‘Mini” Royal Arch School of Instruction beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 14th and lasting until noonish. The ‘school’ will be held in the Lodge Hall in Buckhannon, WV. Intended work and instruction in the opening, balloting, receiving distinguished guests, and dispensing with the Royal Arch, work and instruction in the MM degree and possibly the PM degree. Program may change based upon the preferences or desires of those in attendance.

Usual donuts and coffee early with a light lunch afterwards.

Attending this ‘Mini” event will count as a ‘visit’ toward the Triple Tau Award.

Al;so, remember, the HP, K, and S are required by RAC Laws and Regulations to attend a School of Instruction each year.

On June 14th we celebrate National Flag Day, the entire week is celebrated as National Flag week, when all U. S. Citizens should fly the Stars and Stripes in recognition of the Freedom that so many have fought to preserve and the many that paid the ultimate price to keep0 this a Free Nation.
