Somerset County man dies in crash
Wednesday, December 22, 2010
An 86-year-old Somerset County man died late Tuesday after a crash on Route 711 in Fayette County.
State Police at the Uniontown barracks said Kathryn Foy, 67, of Meyersdale was traveling northbound in Connellsville Township just after noon Tuesday when her Mercury Milan went off the roadway and hit a large stone wall. She refused medical attention but her passenger, William H. Thornley of Meyersdale, suffered a major injury and was transported to UPMC Presbyterian, where he died at 9:22 p.m. The cause was blunt force trauma to the lower extremities, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office said.
He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
