Death of Samuel A. Brown

Samuel A. Brown, 91 of Glasgow, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Quarry Manor, Charleston.

Sam lived most of his life in Glasgow and was retired from AEP Kanawha River Plant, Glasgow, he was a US WWII Navy Veteran and served in the Pacific Theater Campaign. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a fifty year member of the Chelyan Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies, and Eastern Star, Montgomery Chapter. He was a past president of the Board of Directors of the Glasgow Fire Department, former member of the Glasgow Town Council, and a former Sunday School Superintendent of Glasgow Nazarene Church. He was an amateur Ham radio operator and known Silverfox on the CB radio.

He was very loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a dedicated Christian.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Arbutus Brown, his brother; Robert P. Brown Jr., and his parents, Robert and Julia Brown.

He is survived by his daughters; Peggy Proctor and her husband Keith, Deborah Dalton and her husband Gary and LuAnn Dalton and her husband Danny all of Glasgow, Marilyn Brown of Georgia, his nephew; Dewayne Brown and his wife Connie of Hagerstown, Maryland, 8-grandchildren, 7-great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

Services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, 600 Old Fort Street, Cedar Grove with Rev. John Massey officiating. Entombment will follow the services in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.

Friends may call Monday, May 13, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Quarry Manor and special thank you goes to Angie Dean and Scottie “Charlie” Eastwood, and Amy. Also a big thank you to Kanawha Hospice workers, Jennifer, Stacy, Lynn, Linda, Pastor Terry, Kip and Kim.
