Death of Rowan Eugene Hunt

Rowan Eugene Hunt, 79, of Nitro, died Friday, February 20, 2015, at Hubbard Hospice, Charleston. He was a Christian and was retired from West Virginia Steel as a welder with many years of service. Rowan was a former employee of Putnam Fabricating as a welder. He was a member of the Nitro Antique Car Club and a member of the Nitro Masonic Lodge #170. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Carleen Hunt; son-in-law, Phillip D. Smith, Sr.

Surviving loving wife of 60 years, Ruth Ann Hunt; son, Mark Hunt; daughter Tammy Smith Sowards and her husband, Dusty; brother, William Hunt; grandchildren, Phillip David Jr., Adam, Andrew, Jonathan Smith.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston with Pastor John Rollins officiating. Burial will be in the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Institute, WV. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
