Paul R. Phillips, 93, of Cairo, WV, departed this life on Friday, March 21, 2014, at his residence.

Paul was born September 13, 1920, in Cairo, WV, a son of the late Silas C. and Metta (Smith) Phillips. Paul retired from the US Air Force after a 20+ year career. He first enlisted in the US Navy during World War II. After the war, he was discharged and later reenlisted in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Following Korea, he reenlisted one last time in the US Air Force where he achieved the status of E-7 before retirement. Following his military career, he was a manager of a wholesale produce plant in California before migrating back to Cairo, WV to be closer to family. He was a 50+ year member of the Cairo Masonic Lodge #114 AF&AM and a member of the Big Run Independent Church, Cairo, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emogene (Cantwell) Phillips; brother, Carlton Phillips, and sisters, Dorothy Dillworth, Lorine Fry, Elizabeth Moore, Ruth Drake, and Virginia Simons.

Funeral services will be 1pm, Tuesday, March 25, at Raiguel Funeral Home, Cairo, WV, with Pastor Doug Guinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Cairo IOOF Cemetery where full masonic rites will be conducted by Cairo Masonic Lodge #114 AF&AM. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Tuesday.
