Lowell Ray Bailey of Mallie, Ky., formerly of Clendenin, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, Ky., following a long illness.
Lowell was the son of the late Troy Bailey Sr. and Kermitt Luemma Boggs Bailey. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis Jean Kennedy Bailey; brothers, Burkley Bailey, David Bailey and Roscoe Bailey; and sister, Deloris Jean Blair.
Lowell is survived by his brother, Troy Bailey Jr. and wife, Malvery, of Mallie, Ky.; sister, Rosie Nadine Johnson of Torrance, Calif.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lowell left behind a legacy of service to his Lord, country and family. Lowell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Korean War. He was a past commander of VFW Post 8516 and past district commander of VFW District 9. He formerly attended Doctor’s Creek Community Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 126 AF&AM, Clendenin, a member of the Beni Kedem Shrine of Charleston and a member of The Scottish Rites.
Lowell’s funeral service will be at noon Saturday, Aug. 9, at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin, with Pastor Clarence Deel officiating. American Legion Post 61 will be performing military rites. Mason rites will be administered at the gravesite. Burial will be at Clendenin Memorial Gardens, Clendenin.
