Louie Gail Elliott, 93, of Smithville, died Sept. 8, 2013, at Pine View Continuous Care, Harrisville.
He was born March 24, 1920, at Smithville, W.Va., the son of the late William G. and Ada M. Carpenter Elliott.
Louie was a retired utility worker for Consolidated Natural Gas Co., and he was a member of Smithville United Methodist Church. He was a 50-year member of Harrisville Lodge 98 A.F. & A.M., Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Scottish Rite Free Mason 32nd Degree, Pennsboro Commandry 20, Odell S. Long Chapter 25 R.A.M., Order of Eastern Star Chapter 29, Harrisville, Nemesis Shrine, Parkersburg, and a 50-year member of Harrisville Lodge 99 I.O.O.F. Louie taught many lodge members their degrees and also taught square dancing.
He is survived by one daughter, Winona Gail Collins (Larry) of Smithville; grandchildren, Cheryl Bailey, Tim Clayton (Erin), Kathy Wheatcraft (Rob) and Brenda Gibson (Ed); great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Elliott (Helen) of Smithville; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma McHenry Elliott; second wife, Emma Wright Elliott; brother, Charles A. “Bud” Elliott; and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Pastor Dwight Goff officiating. Burial will follow in Ayers Cemetery, Smithville. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
