Death of James W. Kearns

James W. Kearns of Bomont went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 7, 2011.

He was retired from Lucent Technologies and was active at Reamer Gospel Tabernacle as a trustee, Sunday school teacher and youth leader. He was also involved with the community in the Masonic Lodge; Past Chaplain of the Lions Club; the Odd Fellows; the Queen Shoals PSD; Clay youth athletics; and basketball coach.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenna (Samples) and George Willard Kearns.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Sample) Kearns; son, Michael Kearns (Erica) of Clendenin; daughters, Lesa Hess (Jamie) of Powhatan, Va., and Patricia Taylor (Toby) of Bickmore; grandchildren, Michael and Jamie Kearns, James Hess and Sarah, Seth and Rachel Kirk; and great-grandchildren, McKinley and Kase.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 9, at Reamer Gospel Tabernacle with Pastor Clarence Deel officiating. Interment will be at Boone-Samples Cemetery, Bomont with Masonic graveside rites by Lodge #126 AF&AM.

Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, October 8, at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin.
