Frank Elmen King, Jr., 88, of 304 Cottage Avenue Weston passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011 in the United Hospital Center of Clarksburg following an extended illness. He was born in Lockney, WV on September 28, 1922: son of the late Frank Elmen King, Sr. and Anna Belle (Jones) King. On January 11, 1944, he married Evelyn E. (Smith) King, who survives.
Mr. King is also survived by one daughter: Sharon (Dave) Kraus of Alum Bridge and two sons: Ronald (Iris) King of Bridgeport and Randall (Amanda) King of Sandyville, WV. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Beth (Rich) Haley, Mark (Roxanne) Kraus, Lee (Shelly) Kraus, Jeff (Inna) King, Lori Wilmoth, Aimee (Robert) Browning, Melissa (Joe) Hoskins, Martha (Scott) Warne, Heather (Jamie) Gifford, and Chad (Angel) King, two step grandchildren: Evan and Justin Hughes, 18 great grandchildren: Trey, David, Camdyn, Weston, Alexander, Emily, Alexandra, Vidar, Nate, Hunter, Grace, Josiah, Emma, Justin, Jessica, Ashley, MacKenzie and Tori, and four step great grandchildren: Cullen, Courtney, Janna and Jarig. Also surviving are two sisters: Joann Morelock of Akron, OH and Rose Heckert of Davisville, WV and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by one grandson: Scott King, four brothers: Kenneth, John, Loring and Larry King and one sister: Louise Hale.
Mr. King retired from Consolidated Natural Gas as a station supervisor. He was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston. Frank was a 50 year member of Weston Lodge #10 AF & AM, member of Fort Henry York Rite College #61 of Wheeling, member of St John Commandery #8 Knight Templar, Bigelow Chapter #4 Royal Arch Masons , Nemesis Shrine Temple of Parkersburg and member of Lewis County Shrine Club.
Mr. King was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a private first class during WWII where he received a Bronze Star Medal. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion, member of East Lewis Lions Club and Past Worthy Patron of Weston Chapter #40 Order of Eastern Star.
Friends and family will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Friday, September 23, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Jonathan Nettles officiating. Interment will follow services in the Weston Masonic Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by Lewis County Honor Guard and Masonic rites will be conducted by Weston Lodge # 10 AF & AM.
