Death of Eanis T. Jones

Eanis T. Jones, 84 of Charleston passed away on June 27th, 2011 in Pensacola, Florida.
He was born in Scraggs Hollow (Charleston) to Nimrod and Naoma Jones on May 3rd, 1927. In addition to his late parents and brothers and sisters, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Burnitice and daughter, Jeannie Ong.
Although obtaining his high school diploma through correspondence course due to caring for his parents in lieu of completing his schooling, he was proud to say he was officially a graduate of the University of Hard Knocks.
Eanis was a lifetime member of the NRA as well as a being certified as an NRA Pistol and Rifle Instructor. He was a lifetime member of the IOOF, Independent Order of Odd Fellows a charitable order to help those in need. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason of the Grand Lodge number 168 over 50 years. He was also a member of and contributor to the Shriners.
Eanis retired from the U.S Postal Service in Charleston.
He is survived by his daughter Judith Dean of Navarre, Florida and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His compassion for others and his sense of humor will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be held Friday July 1, 2011 1:00pm at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home.
A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by South Charleston Masonic Lodge # 168. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.
