Death of David Allen Nelson

Obituary:
David Allen Nelson, age 64 years, a resident of Beverly, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a brief illness. He was born July 6, 1947 at Riverton, WV, a son of the late George Allen and Wanda Gae Bland Nelson. On June 14, 1973 he married the love of his life, Patsy Ruth Pingley Nelson who survives at Beverly. A loving union that lasted for almost thirty nine years. He is also survived by one sister, Nancy L. Gibson, of Elkins , whom he called “Clyde”. His faithful companion, Belle Elizabeth, which he affectionately called “Killer”. Dave attended the schools of Randolph County and was a 1966 graduate of Elkins High School at which time he enlisted in the United States Army serving his country for four years. He worked for over twenty five years for the Randolph County Board of Education as an electrician and networking facilitator. He was a member and Past Master of Randolph Lodge No. 55 AF & AM, Osiris Shrine of Wheeling, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry S. J. of Clarksburg, and was currently Worthy Patron of Randolph Chapter No. 74, Order of the Eastern Star. Dave loved to do things with his hands, building and repairing things, especially Cub Cadets which was his hobby. He found it a challenge to fix and rebuild all type of mowers and would find others waiting in his driveway to be repaired. He was well known by all for his comment “I have to drive Miss Daisy”. He truly loved driving “Miss Daisy”, “Mousie”, to all the Eastern Star meetings. He was a diligent worker for the Order of the Eastern Star, both locally and for the Grand Chapter of West Virginia. Friends may call from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Randolph Chapter No. 74 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 PM Saturday. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, April 22nd from the funeral home chapel with Minister Michael Courtwright and Evangelist Gary L. Kendall officiating. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery where Randolph Lodge No. 55 AF&AM will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites.
