Darrell Emerson Buck
November 8, 1940 – August 14, 2012
Darrell E. Buck, 71, of Leon passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 as a result of injuries he sustained from a tractor accident on his farm. Darrell was a 1960 graduate of Point Pleasant High School, and a member of the Big Blacks football team wearing number 43. He served his country in the United States Army in Germany and received a commendation as an expert rifleman. Darrell worked for American Viscose, Kaiser Aluminum Corp., Union Carbide Putnam Mine, and retired from A.E.P. Southern Ohio Coal Meigs Division. Following retirement, Darrell worked part-time with Midkiff Surveying, and was a trustee of the Craig-Douglass Cemetery. He was a member of Kanawha Valley Lodge #36 A.F. & A.M., a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite Valley of Charleston, Beni Kedem Shrine Temple, Franklin No. 17 York Rite Commandery of Point Pleasant, and American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant.
Born November 8, 1940, he was the son of the late Clodus and Audren Riffle Buck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Darren Buck; brothers, Burdell Buck, and Ronald “Ronnie” Buck.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 47 years, Dianne Buxton Buck; daughters, Angie (Donnie) Young of Buffalo, and Denise (Randall) Saunders of Crown City, OH; his most precious grandchildren, Howard Lee and Amanda Young of Buffalo; siblings, Barbara Barnette, Fred Buck, Rodney “Butch” (Donna) Buck, Ilean (Mickey) Hurst, Karen Buck, and Gary Buck; sisters-in-law, Gail Buck, and Phyllis Buck (Bob) Baker; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
The Buck family wishes to express their gratitude to all the emergency services workers and friends and neighbors who have helped in any way.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Raynes Funeral Home Eleanor Chapel, 303 Ash Circle, Eleanor, WV with Pastor Bobby Craig and Brother Bruce Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Craig-Douglass Cemetery, Grimms Landing with Masonic graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2012 at Raynes Funeral Home Eleanor Chapel.
