Charles E. Olson, 80, of Pike, W.Va., passed away Sept. 22, 2011, at the Camden Clark Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Campus, Parkersburg. He was born Dec. 15, 1930 in Charleston W.Va., the son of Glen and Golda Hively Olson.
He attended Charleston High School where he was a member of the marching band. On Aug. 6, 1949, he married Jo Ann Pifer. They later began their life in Pike, W.Va. He was a member of the Pike Church of Christ, a life member of the Harmony Lodge 59 AF & AM, Pennsboro, and Pennsboro Chapter 26 Order of Eastern Star.
Charlie worked in the trucking business most of his life, first with Chemical Leaman, then starting Mountaineer Bulk Services. He took great pride in the service he provided his customers, who became his great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jo Ann Pifer Olson, and his sister Barbara Caldwell.
He is survived by a daughter, Naresa Jan Cunningham (Richard) of Sistersville, W.Va.; grandsons, Michael Allen De Lancey (Karen) of Fairmont, W.Va., and Todd Cunningham (Teresa) of Parkersburg; a great grandson, Brant Alexander De Lancey of Fairmont; sisters, Jean Basham of Charleston, W.Va. and Patricia Pitts of Fort Worth, Texas; sister-in-law, Sherrie Channel (Les) of Big Bend, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro with Evangelist Andrew Robison officiating. Burial will follow in the Pike Church of Christ Cemetery with full Masonic honors by Harmony Lodge 59 AF & AM. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
