Cecil Leroy Whittington, age 81, of Charles Town, WV, formerly of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Willow Tree Manor of Charles Town.

Born October 16, 1932 at Four Mile Woods, Berkeley County, WV, he was the son of the late Charles Leroy Whittington and Gladys Kirby Whittington Orndoff.

He was of the Methodist faith. Cecil attended public schools in Berkeley County, WV and had served with the U. S. Army. He retired after more than 25 years of service as a truck driver with U.S. Silica in Berkeley Springs. He was a member of Robert White Lodge #67 A.F. & A.M. in Martinsburg. Cecil enjoyed fishing, hunting, dirt track racing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters, Kay Marie Widmeyer and her husband Earl of Charles Town, Catherine Ann DeLawder and her husband Norman of The Villages, FL, two sons, Charles Leroy Whittington, Sr. and his wife Regina of Bunker Hill, WV and Shawn Edward Whittington of Berkeley Springs, one sister, Dorothy Miglarie of Hollywood, FL, nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Lorraine Whittington on March 8, 1999, one daughter, Susan Lyn Sager on August 16, 1990, two sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV with Pastor Rob Fisher officiating. Interment with Masonic graveside rites will be in Mahnes Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
