Buren E. Sparks, 76, of Diamond passed away March 4, 2012, at CAMC General Division following a short illness.
He was a retired salesman for both Johnson and Johnson Company and Cardinal Health Care. Buren was a member, deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher at Diamond Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Chelyan Masonic Lodge #158 AF&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies; a member of American Baptist Men, active with Camp Cowen; coordinator for the American Baptist Men Disaster Relief and the National Baptist Disaster Relief; and also a 33-year plus member of Belle Fire Department.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Clifton and Frances Pritt Sparks; brother, James Sparks; and sister, Ernestine Seabolt.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Sparks; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Linda Sparks of Belle; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Scott Schilling of Chelyan; brother, Clifford Sparks of Daytona Beach, Fla.; sister, Fay Boggs of Witcher; and grandchildren, Taylor, Lauren, Emily, Jenna and Julie.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Judson Baptist Church, 8th Street, Belle, with the Rev. Rick Pursley officiating. Burial, with Masonic graveside rites performed by Chelyan Lodge #158 AF&AM, will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
