Around the Temple – March 5, 2012
I had the pleasure of attending Crescent Lodge #32 last night. They had two brothers return the Third Degree Catechism. This makes 120 they have recorded on the plaque in the anteroom. When they get 125 members to return the catechism, Brother Karl Hager will do the floor lecture for the Second Degree. I’ll try to keep you aware of both occasions.
Join the members of Warm Springs Chapter #53 on Thursday 15 March 2012 for a unique evening honoring Companion and Sir Knight Vernon D. Youngblood. MEGHP Raymond Lusk and REGC Ed Ball will visit the Sixth Capitular District for a dinner meeting hosted by Warm Springs Chapter #53 in Berkeley Springs. No work is scheduled but 50 year service awards for both the Chapter and Commandery are to be presented to Companion and Sir Knight Vernon D. Youngblood. A meal is planned for 6:00 p.m. and there will be plenty to eat. Anyone needing a ride should contact Louie Youngblood.
SICKNESS AND DISTRESS: I have been informed that the mother of Brother Bill Smith of Hamlin is seriously ill. I thought I had received forwarded information but I can’t find it. I will send further information as soon as I get can it.
Brother Don Peterson will be having a knee replacement about 27 March. Best wishes, Don.
I was also informed that the sister-in-law of Brother Bill Smith has passed away. I will send details when I can get them. I’m sure Bill and El will appreciate cards and calls.
The wife of Brother John Chandler, Cuza, passed away on 29 February 2012. Her services were held on 3 March. I’m sure John will appreciate cards and calls also. Mrs Chandler was an active member of the Cabwayco DeMolay Mothers Club when I was an active member of the Chapter. She was one of those ladies I just never could call by her given name.
We also lost Brother Joe Evans this week. Joe was a 33rd Degree member of the Scottish Rite and a Past Master at Madison. In my dealings with Joe, I found him to be a kind man and one who seldom had a bad word to say of anyone.
