Around the Temple – March 24, 2012
I enjoyed the meeting of Huntington Commandery #9 Friday night. We had our election and installation of officers for the 2012-2013 Templar Year. (Of course having a recognition of Past Commanders didn’t hurt any, either.) Right Eminent Grand Commander Ed Ball was here to install the officers. I really believe the high-light of the evening was having Eminent Commander Roy Ramey’s daughter Abby place his jewel of office around his neck. Congratulations, Roy. I’ll list all the officers next week.
Huntington Shrine Club will have its annual Babe Ruth Tournament 25 to 30 June. All profit from the tournament will go to the Beni Kedem Transportation Fund or the Shrine hospitals. These teams are not all stars but the basic teams (for lack of a better term) with young men playing who might otherwise never play in a tournament. Come out and give them some support. (Donations will be appreciated at the gates.)
The Grand Commandery Officers met in Parkersburg Saturday to discuss plans for the Grand Commandery Conclave to be held 17-19 May at Weirton. All knights templar are welcome to attend even if they have never been an officer in their commanderies. Also, the nice thing about the Grand Commandery is that the ladies are not only invited but are also encouraged to attend. There are always special activities available for them.
Parkersburg Scottish Rite Valley was also holding their Spring Reunion Saturday. It looked as if they had a sizeable class. They were also quite gracious in providing lunch for the Grand Commandery Officers present. Thank you for the fine meal.

Father in Heaven,
As we experience this Lenten Season, it seems that there is so much hatred around the world and around our country. Yet Christ came with a message of love. Help us to find that love as we go about our lives and bless others as you have blessed us. Amen.
