Lyndon Louis Collins, 76, of Bridgeport, W.Va., departed this life on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, W.Va.
He was born Jan. 13, 1936, in Pennsboro, W.Va., the son of the late William F. and Cartha A. Dotson Collins. Lyndon had retired from the Consolidated Natural Gas Co. as a purchaser. He was owner and operator of the Bridgeport Awning Co. He was a Methodist by faith. He was a member of the Harmony Lodge #59 A.F. & A.M. of Pennsboro, Nemesis Shrine of Parkersburg, O’Dell S. Long Lodge #25 of Pennsboro, Commandary Lodge #20 of Pennsboro and the Clarksburg Elks Club. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and watching sporting events, especially the WV Mountaineers. A great joy of his was to watch his grandson play sports.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Stacie Goff (Scott) of Harrisville, W.Va.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd Collins (Mary Lee) of Williamstown, W.Va. and Neil Collins (Lila) of Pennsboro, W.Va.; grandson, Wyatt S. Goff; nieces, Pam Farrell and Penny Claire; nephew, Brett Collins; many friends; and a special neighbor, Annie Pinti. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Collins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday from the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, W.Va. at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John Frum officiating. Burial will follow in the Gnats Run Cemetery near Pennsboro, W.Va. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday between the hours of 4-8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on the day of the service.
