Death of John Carl Robertson

John Carl Robertson, 70, of Rt. 1, Cairo, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Sept. 4, 2011, at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born in Lisbon, Ohio, on June 20, 1941, a son of the late Richard B. ”Dick” and Neva B. “Peachie” Schofield Robertson.

John was a 1959 graduate of the former Pennsboro High School and a 1971 graduate of Marietta College. He was a chemist at Borg-Warner Chemicals from 1960 until 1974 and a production superintendent at Cytec from 1974 until 2004. He was raised a Master Mason in Parkersburg and was a past master of three lodges, Parkersburg Lodge # 169 A.F. & A.M., the former Ellenboro Lodge, and Cairo Lodge # 114 A.F. & A.M. He was currently a member of Harmony Lodge #59 A.F. & A.M., Pennsboro. He was past High Priest of O’Dell S. Long Chapter Royal Arch Masons #25, Pennsboro, and Past Commander of Pennsboro Commandry #20 K.T. John was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and Knights of the York Cross of Honor.

Next to God and his family, John loved his church and community and was so very active in both. He was a professed Christian and a member of the Nutter Farm United Methodist Church, where he served as a teacher of the adult class and a lay speaker for the Cairo charge. He was always a vibrant and inspired leader who gave a spirit-filled message.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wilma Rinehart Robertson; two sons, John “Ward” Robertson and Joseph Robertson, both of Rt.1 Cairo, W.Va.; one daughter, Kristin Biondolilla and husband David, Jonestown, Ark.; one daughter-in-law, Mendy Robertson, Pennsboro; two brothers, Jimmy Robertson, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Richard T. “Tex” Robertson, Pennsboro; four grandchildren, Travis and Maggie Robertson, Aaron Robertson, and Jesseca Biondolillo and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Nichols.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro with the Reverends Dan Martin and Darren DeVaughn officiating. Burial will follow in the Terry Cemetery, near Nutter Farm with Masonic Graveside rights to be given by Harmony Lodge #59 A.F. & A.M. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 4-8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on the day of the service.
